A passenger vessel was experiencing overheating problems with one of its main propulsion engines, consistently exceeding 195 degrees F at cruising speed. Rydlyme Marine is compatible with some Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys.

The rule of thumb is that if the alloy is design for use in a water system (Aluminium engine block), which most marine equipment is, then the alloy should be compatible with Rydlyme Marine.

Rydlyme Marine will not corrode, pit or damage Aluminium.

Rydlyme Marine will not be compatible with some cast Aluminium’s when when 100% solution is used for long periods.

Redlyme Marine has an added proprietary buffer and additives to protect the softer materials utilised throughout the global marine industry.

Rydlyme Marine will corrode and pit Magnesium and Zinc Anodes. When completing a clean, these need to be removed prior to cleaning and replace once the process id complete.

Rydlyme Marine is an electrolyte, as are most cleaning agents.

An electrolyte is any liquid that will transfer small electric currents. Examples are Salt water, vinegar and coca-cola.

This means a tiny transfer of one metal to another. In some circumstances a small coating of copper may be plated on to a steel drum while circulating an electrolyte such as Rydlyme Marine.

The only time plating occurs is when two dissimilar metals are in an electrolyte solution.

RydLyme Marine FAQs

Will Rydlyme Marine corrode my gaskets, seals, plastics or rubber

No, Rydlyme Marine will not corrode or ruin gaskets, seals, plastics or even cork, Teflon or rubber.

Furthermore it will not dry them out or make them brittle.

Are there any metals that are not compatible with Rydlyme Marine?

The only metals to be concerned with are Galvanized/Zinc, Magnesium and some Aluminium. If the Aluminium was designed to be used in a water system, which most marine equipment is, the alloy should be compatible with Rydlyme Marine solution.

Any Zinc/Magnesium anodes need to be removed prior to cleaning and replace afterwards.

Should you use Rydlyme Marine at full concentration?

You may, but its not necessary. It depends on the amount of scale build-up. If there is a lot of build-up, use approximately 50% product and 50% water. If there is only a small scale build-up use a 25% product to 75% water solution.

Can I re-use the product?

We do not recommend that you re-use the product. If you do the product will not be as effective. Usually our quotations are based on a one time usage.

Can Rydlyme Marine damage fiberglass or paint?

No, Rydlyme Marine will not corrode fibreglass or paint.

How do I know if the product is still working?

Drop a seashell into the Rydlyme Marine, if no foaming or bubbling is observed, then the Rydlyme Marine is completely depleted.
